The Giant Mountains and their mysteries The Giant Mountains, called Karkonosze in Polish, is a mysterious mountainous region, situated on the border between Poland and Czech. Legend has it that the mountains are in fact giants, that have benne asleep for many centuries.
Here, among forests, mountainsides, rapid rivers and waterfalls, we can find ruins of medieval castles, picturesque little towns and old mining tunnels. Thanks to a specific climate and mineral springs galore, the region is famous for spa resorts.
Karkonosze, with the highest peak, the fairytale-named Sniezka (Snow White), are an ideal place not only for hiking in the summer but also for winter folly on ski or snowboard.
